Dead, and a cypress

Tree Stories event, Environmental Humanities Switzerland
Zurich, Switzerland
“Here lies my mom, and so will grandpa, me and us all in the family one day, when we die”, my father said to a 7-year-old me in front of his mother’s tomb. It was my first realization of what death meant: lying in a stone bed next to a cypress tree.
As we seldom share our personal stories around death, I invited to do so among the presence of cypress trees in the framework of this celebratory event.
