When are female juices - and by extension female bodies - wanted and when unwanted?
Pads is a ritualistic work from 2017 in which for one, 31-day month I embroidered a feminine pad each day and in public. Sanitary feminine pads are designed and marketed to help women collect their involuntary vaginal fluids. A seemingly innocent act of embroidering, Pads is a series of silent performances with the intention to bring out to light that which is supposedly wrong, shameful and unwanted in female bodies, and to the wrong locations.
As an amateur embroiderer, I sew and imperfect stain each day and during a given time, making each embroidered “stain” perfectly unfinished.
