Where We Belong
woolen pink scarf
Simultaneously with the start of my PhD in September 2015, I started unweaving colorful pieces of clothing coming from a tiny jammed store in the Turkish neighborhood of Schaerbeek, Brussels.
The items are leftovers from global shops, and it is not clear if they have been worn or not.
While unweaving those forgotten garments I try to pull the threads of their stories, while new ones arise during the act of our body to body, our being together.
Once liberated as form-less materials, they are free to belong to new homes, to be open to new encounters, to build up new stories.
