The installation is an invitation to enjoy and share a metaphorical meal. The
eight ceramic "dishes" form a visual and tactile "meal" that concludes the six-month project "White and Black, Things and Rituals," which explores themes of togetherness and belonging.
Each "dish" was prepared together in intimate encounters with eight Spanish women of different ages, origins and years of arrival in Zurich. In the encounters, I invite each woman to prepare a metaphorical "meal" with me, using clay as a medium and representative of herself. Migrant misinterpretations, cultural dysfunctions, daily stories, memories, personality traits, past, present and future were thus expressed and interpreted through and after the making of the ceramic objects, which were initially (co-)created with the women.
The installation was activated during an open conversation at the "White, Black, and Things" event at Club La Fafa's Diaspora Talks.
