What is it, that needs to be said?

With 15 personal answers to this question, and between Sundays 17 November and 1st December 2024, I will draw and release daily a visual interpretation on paper.

FOREVER: Artist edition Tally Marks x Alicia Velázquez

A lost city upon a smile, diamonds, and fish among bubbles. Now tattooed on the skin of a unique fashion accessory.

With a live-drawing performance in the intimacy of the studio, I interpreted a story for fashion brand Tally Marks, on - and with - one of their signature harness bags.

Tally Marks’ accessories are made in small editions by artisans in Lebanon and with Italian materials.

Haus der Geschichten in the exhibition IN TRANSITION - Kunst in der letzten Baumwollspinnerei der Schweiz

Curated and organized by 6 1/2 in cooperation with Oxyd, Lokal 14 and us. – previously TART Zürich.

AVA presents the site-specific work Haus der Geschichten (Haus of Stories).

House of Stories invites to remember some of the stories that happened in the old factory building while it was still active. The installation shows 192 cards with the 192 names of the employees who worked in the factory at the time of the closure of the spinning mill in 2014. The artist sent each of the 147 ex-workers still living in Switzerland a personal letter asking them to send back a story about their time in the factory. Each received memory is then interpreted as a drawing.

Some of the drawn stories will be realized as a live performance during the exhibition. Performance drawing days: 5.09 (opening), 12 and 19.09, between 14-18h.
